Dito and Cheja are friends. They are both in Standard Four at Mamboleo Primary School. They became friends after realizing that they were great academic competitors. However Dito’s academic performance dropped after his father lost his job.

Dito’s school attendance was not good. He would pretend going to school, but he never reached school. He joined bad company and started smoking marijuana and stealing other people’s properties. His friend Cheja persuaded him to go to school, but he said that he had no money to buy school equipment. Cheja was not happy with Dito’s situation. He explained Dito’s problem to Dito’s parents. Dito’s parents encouraged Dito not to lose hope and work hard so that he can support the family in the future. However, Dito did not have any hope with his future. He continued to smoke marijuana and steal people’s properties. One day, Dito was caught stealing in Mangi’s shop and he was sentenced three years of imprisonment.

Amani and Tumaini are pupils in standard four at Mbuyukenda Primary School. Amani has set goals in his studies in order to perform well and reach to University level. He set his study timetable, and follows it accordingly. In this term he become first in his class.

Tumaini has not set any specific goals for himself. He does not have a study timetable, and not work hard in his studies. His perfomance on terminal examination is poor and he becomes the last in his class.
