These are phrases of words which must always accompany one another in any correct English sentences.

They include:

2. Too ……. to
3. No sooner had…….. than
4. So………that
5. Not until……….. that
6. Hardly …….when
7. Scarcely………..when
8. Barely…………when
9. Either……………or
10. Neither……………nor

Examples:

a) Not only is he careless but also rude.

b) Hardly had I reached the market when it started raining.

c) Either Laurent or john knows the culprit.
