2. Answer ALL questions showing clearly all the working and answers in the space provided.

3. ALL writing must be in blue or black ink EXCEPT drawings which must be in pencil.

SECTION A (60 MARKS)

20. If the two sides of a right angled triangle are (2k – 1) cm and kcm. Find the value of k if cm is the hypotenuse.

SECTION B

21. The total price of three Daily Newspapers and two Jitambue Newspapers is 1,900/=Tshs. While the total price of five Daily Newspapers and three Jitambue Newspapers is 3,000/= Tshs. Calculate the price of each newspaper. (Use the substitution method)

22. Find the y-intercept of the line joining the points (-5, 3) and (3, 2).

23. A man is four times as old as his son. In four years to come the product of their ages will be 520. Find the present age of the son.

24. A kitchen cupboard of three drawers contains a cup, a spoon, a glass, a fork a plate, a knife, a saucer and a pot. The first drawer contains a cup, a glass, a plate while the third drawer contains a plate and a saucer. Represent the given information in a Venn diagram.
