This is Doctor Rose. She works at Afyanjema Hospital. When she arrives at the hospital in the morning, she signs the attendance book. Then she goes round the wards to see the admitted patients (in-patients). Then she goes to the consultation room in the Out-Patients Department (OPD) where she attends the out-patients who are waiting to see the doctor. This takes the rest of the day as three are many out-patients. She only leaves the room for a tea break at 10:30 and a lunch break at 1:00 in the hospital canteen. At 4:30 she goes back home.

Hollow heads torture me with ignorance,
Blind eyes harass me with darkness,
Deaf ears tire me with gibberish,
Blank minds confuse me with emptiness
And, above all,
There is power and command
With wits and ears and eyes,
I have speech and a strong mind,
But I remain weak and powerless.
They oppress me, they torture me
They fight me, they kill me
It’s a flight to bring me down to silence,
To darkness and gibberish, to ignorance,
And through brainwashing to emptiness.
All right, my friends,
It’s a battle and I’ll fight it.
Ears and wits and eyes and speech,
And a strong conscience.
These are my weapons,
And I will fight to the last cell.

COMPREHENSION AND SUMMARY
The sun is of course necessary for life on Earth. It is from it where we experience light and warm air. It provides energy in plants life and brings happiness to people and animals. We all know how bad we feel when it is cold or dark.
The fact is that the earth twins round and round, which causes division of day and night. All living things are controlled by the existence of light and darkness. The sun decides for us time to sleep and time to awake. In the Northern part of Norway there is continuous sunshine in summer time. It is very strange to people who are not used to it. So people find it difficult to go to bed if the sun still shines. Some animals behave differently in the sunshine An Euglena is an animal which shelters around lakes. Mobile phones have the advantage that one can take the call almost anywhere, instead of waiting at home for a phone call. However they may have several disadvantages. Secret unformation may be accessed by unintended people through mobile phones and this may lead to break up social relations and leakage of restricted information such as examinations. Youths may waste a lot of their productive time chatting with friends or playing games. Sometimes they may access information which will end up destroying them morally. Worse still, the electromagnetic waves given out by phones can damage the brain.

SECTION A
COMPREHENSION AND SUMMARY
Read the following passage below and answer the questions that follow.
The great River Nile flows gently in its own course through the plains in the first half of the year. Later on, when snow melts on the mountains, tributaries overflow. It spreads fertile soil from Ethiopia over its Valley and along its banks. The settlers found that in this fertile soil, barley and other crops could be grown. Even without use of plough, they began to make many settlements. They used stone equipments to till the soil, and flint for their weapons. As time passed they learnt the use of capper to make tools. In those early days, they did not understand why the river overflowed each year. But they knew that their crops and their lives depended on the Nile floods as the works of God. But there happened some years when there was a bad Nile!.
Sometimes the floods were not full and did not bring enough soil. The crops became poor and the people starved. At other time the waters were so great that they destroyed houses, people and animals. It took many year before farmers learned how to control the Nile waters. The need to do this led to many great discoveries that they could tell when the river would flood. Thus they begun to learn astronomy and began making calendar of the year. They also learned how to store the water for the use in dry seasons. They dug, canals and made dams. They also learned how to divide the land after its boundaries and prevent it from being washed away by the floods. In this way there came about ancient knowledge of engineering and geometry.
