SECTION A (25 Marks)

4. With Abraham we were made heirs of God by blood covenant through circumcision, with the covenant at Sinai we have been bound to being a unified nation with the law of God (Exodus 19:1-25). With reference to this quotation;
- What is the significance of observing constitutional laws in Tanzania? Give two points.
- In three (3) points, show how people break national laws in your society.
- Briefly describe three (3) functions of the judiciary in Tanzania.
5. The Pharisees added many rules to the Law of Moses; however, they insisted more on three laws about how to behave in their community.
- Briefly explain who the Pharisees were.
- Mention three laws which insisted on how the Pharisees should behave in their community
- Identify one belief and teaching of the Pharisees which is similar to the belief and teaching of the church today.
6. The birth of Jesus Christ is different from any other normal human birth and was shadowed by different events including that of census as shown in Mathew 1:18-2:12. Based on the reading given;
- Why was it important for Jesus to be born from a virgin mother?
- What was the reason behind the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem?
- What might have happened if the wise men had not departed to their country by another way? (Give brief explanation).
7. ‘’Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven’’ (Matthew 19:14).
- Identify three (3) types of behavior which show that children are fit for the kingdom of God.
- What should the parents do to make sure that children become a blessing in the family? (Give three points).
- Basing on the event, why do you think the parents should bring the children to Jesus?
8. During the annunciation of the birth of Jesus Christ, Mary said to the Angel "How shall this be since I have no husband?’’ (Luke 1:34)
- Why did Mary ask the Angel this questions?
- How did the angel respond to the question asked by Mary?

9. In Luke (4:1-13), Jesus being led by the Holy Spirit went to the wilderness where he faced temptations from the devil.

- Basing on techniques which Jesus used to overcome his temptations, suggest three ways that students can use to overcome temptations in schools.
10. In Luke 9:1-6, Jesus commissions his twelve disciples and instructs them to take nothing for the journey including no staffs, bag, bread, money or extra clothes.
- In your opinion what do these instructions mean in ministry of the disciples whom Jesus sent?
- Disciples of Jesus were ought to live exemplary life in the community. Being one of the disciple of Jesus today, what will you do to make your Christian life be exemplary to others? (Give three points).
- Briefly explain three behaviours that ruin disciples of Jesus in the society today.

11. In the book of Genesis 13:1-18, there is a story of Abraham and Lot separating because of strife of their herdsmen. With reference to this story, show how you can help the society live in peace and harmony. (Give four (4) points).
12. Before his death, Joshua called all the Israelites, the elders, heads, judges and offers at Shechem to bid them his farewell (Joshua 23:1-16). What were the motives behind? Give four (4) points.
13. John the Baptist denounced selfish tendencies and violence among his community members. By giving four (4) points show how his teachings are relevant in the society today.

SECTION A (25 Marks)

1. For each of the following items (i) –(xx) choose the most correct answer from among the given alternatives and write its letter in the answer sheet provided.
(i) Although man was the last to be created but still he was regarded as the climax of God’s creation.

(iii)Although God promised Abraham and his wife a child, still they developed doubt and Sarah shared an idea that her husband should share the same bed with her maid in order to get a child. After Ishmael was born there arouse a very big conflict. What lesson do you get from this family experience?
- God’s promises are true and He fulfills them.
- Abraham was a man of great faith he just respected his wife’s idea.

6. “As He entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him beseeching him and saying “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home in a terrible distress and he said to him I will come and heal him”. Later the centurion sent message to Jesus saying “I am not worthy to have you come under my roof but only say a word and my servant shall be healed”

9. “And they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb they told all this to the eleven and all the rest” (Luke 24:8-9).

11. Dinah, the daughter of Jacob and Leah, went to visit some of the women of the city. She was seen by Hamor’s son Shechem, the leader of the Hivites, who grabbed and raped her. Shechem was much attracted to Dinah (Genesis 31:1-4). Basing on the story, explain five (5) consequences of rape in the society today.
12. Explain five (5) problems which the Israelites faced on their way to the Promise land and their solutions according to the book of Exodus (Exodus 13-17).
13. In many countries there are conflicts between farmers and pastoralists in some areas. This has been a cry to the voiceless especial to our country Tanzania. By referring to Joshua’s division of the land basing on the importance of “Land act” that every citizen has the right to acquire land Give five (5) importance of the right distribution of the land among the citizens.
